Zoada Barnes

December 1, 1945 — July 12, 2018

Zoada Barnes 72, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on July 12, 2018. She always looked forward to the first fresh tomato of the season. Zoada loved all animals, enjoyed dancing, fishing and playing BINGO. She was an avid UofL fan. Zoada had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. Spending time with her family and friends meant the world to her.

Zoada was born on December 1, 1945, to the late LaOmen and Louise Simmons, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, LaOmen Simmons, Jr. and sisters, Betty Rosenburg and Mary Burton.

Zoada is survived by her husband, Michael Mason Barnes; children, Shannon Michelle Barnes, Dianna Simms, Jammie Lynn Coulter and Stacey Lynn Hicks; step-daughter, Heather Barnes; step-son, Michael Barnes; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and sisters, Candice Franklin, Nell Lush, Donna Fellmy and Peggy Neff.

A gathering will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway) from 4pm-6pm with a celebration of Zoada's life beginning at 6pm.
