Winston Douglas Wilson, 56, born October 2, 1960, passed away on December 31, 2016. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Master of Science degree in Education from Indiana University . He was a graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School, class of 1979, where he enjoyed playing football and wrestling in which, he won the Nation Championship in the light weight division in 1979. He served in the United States Army Reserve in the 100th Division. Doug was a former teacher at Farnsely Middle School, insurance salesman, real estate agent for Coldwell and an editor for the Hart County Historical Society. He was a 32nd Degree Mason Jeffersonville of Indiana Lodge #340, a member of Scottish Rite of Indianapolis Free Masonry, member of the American Legion of Bardstown, KY, The Demundrum Society of Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN and a Kentucky Colonel. He loved to visit grave sites and research about his family heritage.
Doug was incredibly smart and a walking talking history book. When he would call, even if you weren't at home, he liked to leave a song or prank message. Now he is in heaven with his family cutting up and carrying on like they always did. We'll miss you brother, gone way too soon.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Winston Wilson; grandparents, Herbert and Ora Wilson and John and Violet Lile; and a sister, Mildred Diane Wilson.
Doug is survived by his companion of 23 years, Dwana Bryan; daughters, Catherine (David) Byrd, Elizabeth (Blake) Adams, Susanna (Monte) Wood and Caroline Wilson; grandchildren, Brayden, Nathan, Hazel, Ivan and one on the way; mother, Janice Wilson; Sisters, Renay (Chuck) Davis and Kim (Greg) Gore and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Cemetery (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY) from 1pm-8pm. A celebration of Doug's life will be Saturday, January 7, 2016, beginning at 11am at the chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Louisville Chapel.
Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery, 10917 Dixie Hwy, Valley Station, KY.
