Wilma Jane Wilson, 86, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She was born on October 28, 1939, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Raleigh Reed and Callie Spradlin Reed.
Wilma enjoyed her membership of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3281 and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #28, where she found purpose and camaraderie in serving her community and supporting those around her. Her commitment extended beyond formal organizations-Wilma was known by many as a true social butterfly. She cherished the company of others, often going out of her way to greet new faces and foster lasting friendships wherever she went.
Wilma’s passion for UK sports was unmatched. Many memories were made as Wilma gathered with friends to cheer on the Wildcats, her loyalty unwavering and her joy infectious.
Wilma's love for Bingo was known among those who knew her. Whether playing for fun or attending community nights, she approached each game with a playful sense of competition and an open heart, often lighting up the room with her laughter and exuberance.
Music also held a special place in Wilma’s life, particularly gospel and bluegrass that echoed fond memories of her Kentucky upbringing, always reminding her of home.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Owen Harold Wilson; grandson, Clayton Heeke; siblings, Josephine, Samuel, Garnett, and Ethel.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Tony) Heeke; step-children, Alvina (Eddie) Risert, Owen Wilson, and Elva (Steve) Lewis; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville.
