Wilma Jean Pierce

Wilma Jean Pierce, 84, passed away on April 2, 2024. She was a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma also known as Mamaw. Wilma loved playing and coaching sports; especially softball and volleyball. She was an avid UK and UofL basketball fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, Gameshow Network and the Hallmark Channel. She liked working in her flower garden and sharing them with family and friends; especially her roses and daylilies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Pierce; parents, Zachary and Georgia Higdon; daughter, Janice Marie Pierce; grandson, Christian Alexander Thompson and 8 siblings.

Wilma leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Patrick (Patty) Pierce, Connie (Chris) Joyce, Phyllis Downs, Carol (Tony) Thompson and Pamela Morton; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Jackie Milliner; brother, Paul (Alice) Higdon, Sr.; numerous nieces, nephews and her Symphony Valley Farms family.

Visitation will be Friday, April 12, 2024, from 12pm-8pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY. Wilma's service will be Saturday, April 13, 2024, beginning at 10am at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY.

Wilma will be laid to rest at Louisville Memorial Gardens, West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
