Willie Eugene Simmons was born November 23, 1947, in Louisville, KY and he went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2019. His final days were spent surrounded with family and friends.
Willie Eugene Simmons attended Shawnee High School and then served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. In his spare time, he loved playing cards, spending time with his family and watching sports.
He is preceded in death by his mom and dad; Lawrence and Hattie Mae Simmons; brothers, Lloyd, Cedric, Robert, Ernest, Lawrence (Bumpy), Charles, Louis and Barbara.
Willie is survived by his loving wife, Kay Simmons; children, Tonja (Jesse) Stephens, Donella Gonzalez, Kaleta (Kinte) Duffie; grandchildren, Harold, Juan, Kayla, Jordan and Simone; great grandchildren, Na'Taiya, Ta'Nijah and little Juan; siblings, Alyce and Norman and a host of family friends.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY on February 16, 2019, from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Willie's life beginning at 1pm.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central, 2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160, beginning at 12:30pm.
