Willie Ray Short

Willie Ray Short, 78, of Palmyra, Indiana, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2022. Willie was born on November 15, 1943, in Thompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Bennie and Emmie (Anderson) Short. He retired from Mac Construction after 25 years and was a member of Georgetown Christian Church. He loved fishing, camping, tinkering in the garage, and his Ford truck.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, James and Jerry Short.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of nearly 41 years, Margaret "Peggy" Short; children, Tony (Julie) Short of New Albany, Theresa Murphy of Bowling Green, Gail (Calvin) Leavitt of Texas, Chris (Michelle) Bruska of Orleans, Amanda Hogan of New Salisbury, and bonus son, Bill Hogan of New Salisbury; 4 sisters; 9 grandkids; and 5 great-grandkids.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A time of sharing will be at 6:00 p.m. with the gathering to continue after. Cremation was chosen following Willie's wishes, and he will be laid to rest at Palmyra Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Willie's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105).
