William Ray Wisenbaler, a dedicated mechanic, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 76 in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on June 21, 1949, and was a proud graduate of New Albany High School.
William, a skilled mechanic, made significant contributions throughout both his professional career and his tenure as a distinguished veteran. After graduating high school, he began working for S&S Marine in Indiana, where his mechanical expertise was honed on boats. He subsequently served as a mechanic for Wayne Supply in Louisville and expanded his experience with Criss Craft in Florida. Later, he returned to New Albany, where he continued his work as a general mechanic. William's strong work ethic, integrity, and approachable nature were hallmarks of both his personal and professional life. He took great pride in utilizing his skills to enhance the lives of those around him.
A proud Marine, William served during the Vietnam War, where he earned several commendations for his dedicated service, including the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Action Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. His valor and contributions during this critical period in history were sources of enduring pride.
In addition to his career and military service, William had a variety of interests. He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW post #1693, and the Forty & Eight club. He enjoyed flipping houses, working with his hands, and spending cherished moments with his pets and grandchildren. William had a particular passion for watching NASCAR, Westerns, and sports, often sharing these experiences with family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Marjorie Simms and William George Wisenbaler, and sister Carol Money.
William is survived by his son, William Patrick Wisenbaler, and his daughter, Dottie Seacat (Michael); his other-half, Vanessa Wisenbaler; and siblings, Judy Catlett, Jeannie Freiberger, Renea Lytle. His proudest accomplishment was watching his family grow and thrive. He was remembered for his loyalty as a friend and the love he constantly showed to his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
A visitation will be held in his honor on November 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the life and legacy of William Ray Wisenbaler, a man who touched the lives of many with his kindness and hard work.
The family requests donations be made in his honor to The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) #1693.
