William Riley, 84, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 10 2024. Bill was born on May 23, 1940, in Manchester, Kentucky, to George, Sr. and Maudie (Collins) Riley.
Throughout his life, Bill demonstrated a profound passion for music, particularly through his love for playing the piano and organ. This passion translated into a successful career as the owner of Bill Riley Piano Tuning & Repair, a business he operated for over five decades. His musical talent extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was a devoted member of North Charlestown Church of God, where he shared his gifts with the congregation.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Bill dedicated 24 years of his life to Jeff Boat, from which he retired in 1984. His contributions and work ethic were a testament to his character and commitment to his craft.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings: Elbert, Homer, George Jr., Robert, and sister Sophie Hatfield. He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Rachel Craig, and her fiancée David; grandchildren, Dylan Coats and Morgan Craig, and also numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation in honor of Bill’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation will follow, and he will be laid to rest privately at Brick Church Cemetery in Memphis.
