William Richard Reed

William Richard "Bill" Reed, 75, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Bill worked as a plumber for many years in the community and was a member of the local Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hiking, watching for wildlife, and exploring. He enjoyed watching Sci-Fi movies and shows and was known for being a skilled handyman.

He was born on May 30, 1946, in Petersburg, Indiana, to the late Victor and Mary (Triplett) Reed. Along with his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sisters, Bonnie, Jenny, and Pam.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marian Reed; children, Carol (James) Wright, Janet Hawranko, and Sherry Reed; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda, Cheryl, Nancy, Patty, Jerry, and Mike; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane) with cremation to follow according to Bill's wishes.

The family requests that contributions in Bill's memory be made to the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation (indiana.gov/dnr/state-parks).
