William "Shorty" Payton, 82, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
He was born on August 6, 1937 in Louisville, Kentucky to Huett and Elsie (Snellen) Payton. He attended Ormsby Heights Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, Louise Smith, Eunice Mann, Patsy Richey, Letha Metcalf, Freda Payton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jane D. Payton, son, Clay (Amy) Payton, two grandchildren which were his pride and joy, Sydney & Owen Payton, sister, Rena Harden, nephew, Layne (Mary) Smith, brother-in-law, Richy Wyman, numerous other nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, September 9th and 9:00 am to 1:00 pm with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 pm on Tuesday September 10th at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Burial to follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in Shorty's memory be made to Hosparus.
