William Murris McDonald, 88, passed away on January 17, 2016 at the Signature Health Care Center in Bedford, KY following a brief illness.
He leaves his son, Kenneth McDonald and his wife, Jenna; his step-daughter, Quinetta and her husband, Craig Klutz. He also leaves seven grandchildren.
William was a Veteran of World War II. He was born in San Marcos, Texas, the son of William Spencer and Lola Lee (Ross) McDonald. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Navy. Upon completing service to his country, he joined the local railroad. After recovering from a near fatal train accident, he attended Texas College of Arts and Industries in Kingsville, Texas. Shortly after receiving his bachelor's degree in business, he went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance. William worked for Metropolitan for over 30 years where in that time he rose to district manager covering three states.
The majority of his time Metropolitan, he called Owensboro, Kentucky his home. William enjoyed many things about living in Owensboro, ranging from being assistant baseball coach to participating in local politics. One of his proudest moments was being honored by the Owensboro Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow.
A private funeral service will be held by family, in which his life will be celebrated and his passing mourned.
