William Michael Murphy

William Michael "Mike" Murphy , 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021.

Mike was a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He served in the Kentucky Air National Guard. Mike was a retired truck driver, and owned Murphy Trucking, He was a proud member of The Kentucky Colonels, and attended senior meetings at United Christian Ministries. Family traditions were important to Mike, especially St. Patrick's Day, and he always attended the St. Patrick's Day parade. Mike enjoyed Nascar, antique car shows, UK sports, playing cards with his family and friends, and providing treats to all the neighborhood dogs.

Mike was born on July 31, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Peter and Mary Murphy. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Peter "Duke" Murphy, Charles "Buzz" Murphy, John Thomas Murphy; son-in-law, John Owen, and grandson, Justin Owen.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Murphy; daughters, Angela Marie Fish (Timothy), and Stacie Owen (Rex Allen); sons, Kenneth Michael Murphy, and William Herman Murphy; grandchildren, Michael Murphy (Gail), Christopher Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Matthew Murphy (Brooke), Jacob Fish (Brigid), David Fish, and Jonathan Fish; great-grandchildren, Alan Murphy, Stella Murphy, and Penelope Murphy.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 6, 2021, and at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, at St. Francis of Rome Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

The family requests that contributions in William's memory be made to The Kidney Foundation, or The Kentucky School for the Blind.
