William L. Booker

William Lloyd Booker was born on June 10, 1924 in Coffee Spring, Alabama to the late Estella Booker. After moving to Louisville, he was baptized at Moore Temple Church of God, and regularly attended First Baptist Church of Anchorage for many years.

William married Mary Lou Watson on June 4, 1949. He was a veteran of the United States Navy (August 9, 1943-December 10, 1945), and also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Prospect where he served as Master for two years. William was an employee of General Electric for 35 years (the first African-American maintenance foreman for Bulding No. 5). He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing checkers and watching Westerns, and amassed many trophies from bowling.

Mr. Booker passed from this life on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou; a niece, Susan Cole; and a nephew, James Wheat.

Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral ceremony at 11:30 am on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville 40243) with burial to follow at Berrytown Cemetery.
