William Taylor Johnson

William Taylor (Bill) Johnson 88, passed away on November 29 at Baptist Health Care at 1:30 a.m. with his son Darry by his side. He was so tired and wanted to go home to Jesus.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Carlton and Ruth Johnson, sister Gerry Sherman,
and his son Richard (Dick) Johnson.

Bill is survived by his wife of seventy years, Emma, and his son Darry (Kathy) Johnson. He was Papa to his grandchildren Darcy (Troy) Downey, Richie (Carrie) Johnson, Dodi (Rob) Merchant, and Darryl Johnson. Bill was Great Papa to his great grandchildren Brayton Johnson, Jacob Miller, Lee Johnson, Savannah Johnson, Tristian Merchant, and Preston Merchant.

Bill was born In Springfield, Ohio on December 17, 1929. He married the love of his life Emma on May 21, 1948 after meeting on a blind date seven months earlier. The young family moved to California in 1953 when their son Dick was three years old. Their son Darry was born in Riverside California in 1954.

The family moved to the Seattle Washington area for a work opportunity, and later Bill and Em moved to Texas where they lived for 23 years. They later moved Louisville, Kentucky where both of their sons and their families lived.

Bill endured many years of health issues with love and support from Emma and Darry and the family. He was much loved and will be sorely missed.

The memorial service for family and close friends will be held on Sunday December 16, at 4:30 p.m. at Louisville First Church of God, 4408 Taylorsville Rd., Louisville, KY 40220.
