William E. "Bill" Hildebrand was called home to our Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Bill was born and raised in Louisville where he was a retired electrician and member of IBEW Local 389. He was a WWII Navy Veteran who served aboard LCI-449 at the battle of Iwo Jima. He was a member of several other organizations in his community that included VFW Post 1170 (Life Member), The American Legion, The Kentucky Colonels, Moose Lodge and the USS LCI National Association. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Bland; brothers, Ervin, Pat and Charles Hildebrand; and his son, James "Butch" Hildebrand.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Joann Hildebrand; daughters, Michele McCoy (Lee) and Phyllis Borchert (Tim); grandchildren, Will Borchert, Seth Borchert, Emma Grace McCoy and Brendan McCoy; and nieces, Cathy Malin (Hal), Cindy James (Mike) and Cheri Carney (Patrick). Also surviving Bill are thirteen great-nieces and newphew, and numerous friends, all of whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Times for visitation and services have changed. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm Friday, April 21, 2017 at Episcopal Church of the Advent 901 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204, followed by a celebration of Bill's life at 12pm. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
