William Russell Hampton

William Russell Hampton, 91, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. William was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and worked for GE for 35 years until his retirement.

He was born on July 23, 1930, to the late William and Ida (Monday) Hampton. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Hampton; stepson, Verle Huffman; 2 grandchildren; 1 brother; and 1 sister.

William is survived by his loving daughter, Dorothy Stonecipher; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 stepbrother.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. William will be laid to rest next to his wife at Crossroads Cemetery in Mauckport, Indiana.
