William "Billy" L Gant Sr., 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Billy was a M.A.R.S and Ham Radio Operator with his call sign KA4ZTR. He was always into electronics, computers, and in his younger years the outdoors and photography. He was Boy Scout Master, and played baseball. Billy retired from B.F. Goodrich Factory after 55 years of service. He loved spending time with his family, cats, and especially his grandchildren. Billy was an avid Treasure Collector, through and through. He was of the Catholic Faith, and Served in the Army Reserves.
He was born on September 23, 1935 in New Haven, Kentucky to James and Ella (Whalen) Gant. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Ann Gant, and Father, James Gant.
Billy is survived by his, Sons, Anthony Gant, and William (Mary) Gant, Jr., Daughter, Catherine Ogburn, Mother, Ella Gant (104), Brother, James (Pat) Gant, Jr., Grandchildren, Casey Gant, Courtney Burk, Brian Gant, Eric Gant, Greg Gant, Sarah Ogburn, Emily Ogburn, Great-Grandchildren, Eric Gant, Jr, and George Gant. Billy also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Extended Family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). Visitation will resume on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. His Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel with Entombment to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Mausoleum.
