William Francis Wittmer

August 24, 1935 — March 10, 2015

William "Bill" Wittmer, 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. He retired from DuPont Chemical Company after over 35 years of service and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Albany. Bill was also a member of the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach, American Legion Post 28 Bonnie Sloan, Redman Club, and the K of C Cardinal Ritter Council #1221.

Bill was born on August 24, 1935 in Derby, Indiana to the late Linus and Violet (Martin) Wittmer. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Collins.

He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Wanda "Lucille" (Bowling) Wittmer; daughters, Cathy Riddle (John), Debbie Landers (Herbert); son, Ron Collins (Linda); grandchildren, Mandy, David, Lee, Andrew, Alex, Daniel, Nick; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2 to 8 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 9 AM. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
