William F. Ivester Sr., 90, of Louisville, Kentucky and formerly of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on June 3, 2015. Will proudly served his country in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps. He retired from G.M. and was a member of UAW Local 10 Retirees and UAW Local 862 Retirees and also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 307.
Will was born on December 24, 1924 in Stephens County, Georgia to the late Frank and Mary (Massey) Ivester. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Cortez, Pete, Paul, Hoyt, Buck, and James Ivester and sister, Ilone Ramey.
Will is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances (Martin) Ivester; sister, Jewell Martin, sister-in-law, Ada Mae Ivester, daughter, Cathy (Bill) Whitworth, son, William Ivester, Jr, three grandchildren; Tracey (Mark) Salling, Callie (Noah) Schaefer and Zach Ivester, three greatly loved great-grandsons; Braedon and Jonah Salling and Saxton Schaefer. Will is also survived by a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 8:30 am to 9:00 am Monday, June 8, 2015 at The Franciscan Healthcare Chapel (3623 Fern Valley Road, Louisville, KY 40219), with funeral ceremonies to follow at 9:00am. Internment will immediately follow at Lebanon National Veterans Cemetery in Lebanon, Kentucky.
