William Harvey "Tootie" Edwards, Sr, 63, of Louisville, KY passed away on May 29th 2019, at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center with family at his bedside.
William was born on October 15, 1955, to the late Sarah Edwards Reed and Charles Ellis. He attended Haywood School were he received his education. William left school at a young age to help his mother care for his 13 siblings. At that time is when he found a passion that he loved doing, training and working with horses. He worked for Churchill Downs for several years and it allowed him to travel to other states to pursue that passion. William became a maintenance worker for the Housing Authority of Louisville, in which he held that position for many years.
He married the love of his life, Shirley Hart on May 12, 1995. He attended Holy Name Church were he was a devote catholic.
In William's leisure time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and listening to music. Stevie Ray Vaughn was his favorite artist along with other rhythm and blues artists. He loved to party and be around his family.
William was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, husband and Paw Paw. He was the spotlight at every party. William had a huge heart and personality and he also had a smile that will always be remembered. He was truly one of a kind!
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Edwards Reed; father, Charles Ellis; wife, Shirley Edwards; brothers, Raymond and Keith Edwards and sisters, Joyce Ann and Angela Edwards.
William is survived by his children, William Edwards, Jr, Victoria Edwards, Dorothy Johnson and Felisha Sturgeon; 15 grandchildren; brothers, James, Thomas, Larry, Charles Edward and David Edwards; sisters, Mary Edwards, Laura O'Leary and Renee Fedawi and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 11am-1pm with a celebration of William's' life beginning at 1pm.
Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery, 1808 Preston Highway, Louisville, KY.
