William Henry Doyle

William Doyle, Sr., 69, born November 10, 1947, of Louisville, KY, passed away, Friday, October 27, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Carrie Ferrell Doyle; daughter Andria Ware and brother, James Doyle.

William was affectionately known as 'Beetle'. He attended both Louisville Male and Central High Schools. He was a horse trainer and the first African American to work as a gate starter at Churchill Downs where he retired. He loved the University of Kentucky Athletics and was an avid fan of horse racing. William surrounded himself with family and friends, and loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

William is survived by his children, Adriane Robertson, Deve Frias (Manuel), Elisa Doyle (James), Gwendolyn Howard (Frederick), Cheri Allen, William Doyle, Jr., Ceedrick Ware Sr. (Charletta), Andre Ware Sr. (Gwen), Michael Allen Sr. (LaShay), Thomas Chapman (Amber), 29 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, Siblings Geraldine Pinkston, Alma Elliot, Martha Doyle, Anthony Doyle (Margaret) and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at N Street Baptist Church, 2914 S. 6th Street, Louisville, KY, Friday, November 3, 2017, from 6pm-9pm and Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 10am-11am with a celebration of William's life beginning at 11am at the church.

Burial will be at Louisville Cemetery, 1339 Poplar Level Rd, Louisville, KY .
