William Spalding Downs, Jr.

July 29, 1953 — July 25, 2018

William S. "Bill" Downs Jr., 64, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Bill loved music and was a very gifted artist who enjoyed doing acrylic and watercolor painting.

He was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on July 29, 1953, to the late William Downs, Sr., and Amanthelyn (Lee) Downs.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda (Sommerville) Downs; children, Tammy Shane (Mark), Denise Downs, and Stephanie Brindos; brother, Jeff Downs; sisters, Regina White and Ann Shackleford (Dwight); grandchildren, Brittanny Whiteside (Anthony), John Morgan Shane (Kim), Clinton Shane (Nicole), Madoliene Brindos, Marissa Brindos, and Mallory Brindos; and great-grandchildren, Broden and Emerson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Bill's wishes.
