William L. Diehl
November 7, 1925 — March 15, 2018
William (Billy) L. Diehl, Jr. 92, of Louisville went home to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 15, 2018.
Proudly serving his country in the Army, Billy saw active duty in the Philippines during World War II. He was a successful business man; owning his own heating and air conditioning company.
Billy never met a stranger and he ran into friends no matter where he went. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He enjoyed watching "The Three Stooges" and also enjoyed old western movies. One of his favorite pastimes was reading his Bible. Billy loved the Lord and he was a faithful member of the New Covenant Church of God.
He was born November 7, 1925 to the late William L. Diehl, Sr. and Lillian C. Simon Diehl. He was also preceded in death by siblings Jessie Diehl, Robert B. Diehl, Wanetta V. Shannonhouse, Frank A. Diehl, Raymond L. Diehl, and Rose Ella Age.
He leaves a legacy of love and generosity to his wife of 70 years, Phyllis J. Eisenbeis Diehl; children, Janie Penna (William), Jeanie Crane (Jim), William III (Mary), Kenny (Peggy), James, and Valerie Banks (Roger); 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister Carolyn Diehl Raymond, brother Carl Diehl and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Visitation will be from 12-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at New Covenant Church of God, 1272 Gilmore Lane and 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Newcomers Funeral Home, 10304 Dixie Highway; funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m. A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veteran's Cemetery Central, 2501 Dixie Highway, Radcliff
