William Austin Cox

November 18, 1946 — August 23, 2019

William Austin Cox, 72, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019. William was a Marine and served proudly in Vietnam and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS, a Iife member of The American Legion, a life member of the N.R.A., a Kentucky Colonel, The Republican Party of Kentucky, and Gun Owners of America.

He was born on November 18, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to George and Lucille Cox. He is preceded in death by his parents, Daughter, Leanna French, Sisters, Betty Ann Hunt, and Margaret Sue Crawford, Brothers, George and Fred Cox.

William is survived by his loving Wife of 40 years, Sandra L. Cox, Son, William Gregory Wesley, Sister, Kathy LaRue, Grandchildren: Heather Wesley, Joey French, Hayley Longacre, and Conner Wesley, Great-Grandchildren: Mia French, Harlee Ann French, Ayri Hernandez, Audrey Hernandez, Hayleigh McAllister, and Charlotte Danielle French.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
