William "Billy" T. Dolan Jr.

William "Billy" T. Dolan Jr., age 74, passed away after a long battle on September 25, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Billy grew up in New Albany, Indiana where he fostered a deep passion for music early on in life playing in the New Albany High School Band and he graduated from New Albany High School in 1970. Before he even got his driver's license his parents would drive him to band gigs. His preffered instruments were keyboards which were the B-3 organ, piano, and synthesizer. He played in numerous bands including Iron Horse, Streetnoise, and Traveler. His daughter Anna is a professional musician as well.

In Billy's early years, he would meet his future wife, Sandy, while living up the street. Billy was referred to as the "green van man" since he would drive by with his beloved basset hound, Clyde, sitting in the front passenger side seat of his van with those big floppy ears flying behind him. Billy would unashamedly flirt with Sandy honking his horn and waving if she happened to be outside. They got married on March 13, 1981. They have two daughters, Anna and Carly, that love horses like their mom. He supported whatever they were interested in.

Billy eventually bought a farm in Greenville, Indiana and developed that for his girls to partake in horse sports. Billy also enjoyed taking his family and horses trail riding and camping. Eventually he helped his wife launch Cedar Ridge Farm Children's Horseback Riding Lesson Program and kept things up on the farm. Billy could build things and built equipment for his girls, the lesson program, the Floyd County 4H Horse and Pony Program and the local United States Pony Club. After retirement Billy and his wife were blessed with their beloved grandchildren, Lily and Weston.

Billy worked in the lumber industry his whole life following in his dad William Dolan Sr's footsteps. He eventually started his own business Kentucky Pacific Lumber Company with his long time friend, Mike Rhoades. This inspired his daughters to be independent thinkers leading to Anna starting a music store before her music career took off and Carly starting a pet grooming and boarding business. He was very proud of his girls.

Billy loved to garden and had a beautiful vegetable garden. He shared those vegetables with whoever wanted some. Another hobby Billy enjoyed was fishing. Billy lost a number of his closest friends over the last couple of years, and was always there for them when they sought him out. The one thing he always did was make sure they all accepted Jesus Christ. He was successful in doing that!

Billy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandy (Huber) Dolan; daughters, Anna Blanton (Charlie), Carly Dolan; grandchildren, Lily Blanton and Weston Johnson; sister, Bonnie Beemer (Tim); in-laws, Vicki and Jerry Russell, Theresa and Tim Rapp, Danny and Laurie Huber, and Kathy Huber; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Alice Dolan; as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. Mary Navilleton, (7500 Navilleton Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119).

In lieu of flowers donations to St. Mary's Navilleton Church, Hospice, or organizations geared towards helping children in need are preferred in Billy's memory.

The family would like to thank Hospice for their compassionate care of Billy in his last days.
