William "Bill" Edward Zipfel, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
He was born on July 22, 1941 in Oak Harbor, Ohio to the late Edward and Vivian (Kolath) Zipfel. He is also preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth (Porter) Zipfel, sister Diane Zipfel Lee (Richard), step-brother Steve Hunter and step mother Betty Zipfel.
Bill was a member of Westport Road Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and a lifelong and dedicated member of IBEW Local 369 where after many years in the field he accepted the position of Assistant Business Agent and served faithfully in that capacity until his retirement in 2004. Bill was a loving husband, dad, Grandpappy and friend to many, his generosity knew no boundaries and was willing to help anyone in need.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of thirteen years, Janice Marian Zipfel, sons, Thomas Zipfel (Kim), Bryan Zipfel (Suzanne), two grandchildren Jessica DeYoung (Casey), Zachary Zipfel, great-grandchildren Harper, Hadley, Axel and Tyrikus, nieces Allison Lee and Susan Lee, great-niece Lela Lee, Amanda Bomar, great-nephew Jamie Bomar and step-sisters Judy Hunter Duncan (Leroy) and Sandy Hunter Arruda (Jerry). He is also survived by children by marriage, Mindy Hall, Jeff Hall (Laura), Shana McCutcheon (Reg), grandchildren by marriage Chris, Jessi, Kristina, Vanessa, Alex, Liv, Abigail, Eli, Joy and Josiah and one great-grandchild by marriage Elyse.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Newcomer Cremation, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243).
Visitation will also be from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery.
