William "Bill" Gambill Sr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 6, 2024, age 76, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on December 30, 1947, in East St. Louis, Illinois. He was a dedicated worker, having spent 25 years as a crane operator for Nugent Sand Company, in Louisville, Kentucky, before his retirement.
He attended Clarksville High School. Throughout his life, he embraced numerous hobbies and interests. Bill had a passion for racing cars, enjoyed farming games, and loved camping. He was also an enthusiastic participant in 3D printing projects and took great pleasure in watching wrestling. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his family which defined his life.
Bill was a proud member of the Indiana Good Sam Club and Teamster Local 89, accomplishments that highlighted his commitment and dedication to both community and work. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith "Judy" Gambill, and his children: daughter Cheryl (Eric) Wermuth, son William "Billy" Gambill, Jr., and daughter Kimberly (Michael Austin) Gambill. Bill was a doting grandfather to Whitney, Austin, Courtney, Alyssa, Ashton, Courtney, and Laci. He is also survived by two nephews, Stephen and Jeff.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dora Gambill, as well as his brother, Joe Gambill, his sister, Sarah Carlin, his sister, Della Gambill, and another brother, Donnie Gambill. His legacy will continue through his family, who will remember him fondly for his warmth, humor, and unwavering support.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bill's life at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. Visitation will take place on December 16, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 1:00 PM, followed by the burial at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
