William Bennettson

William "Don" Bennettson, 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
He was born on August 8, 1930 in Rockville Center, New York to the late Arthur and Mary (McDevitt) Bennettson. He is also preceded in death by his wife Joan M. Bennettson and brothers Arthur and Herbert.
William "Don" served as a Marine in the Korean War and was awarded The Distinguished Flying Cross. He was one of the first ordained Deacon in the Catholic Church for the Diocese of Rockville Center in New York. In his spare time he enjoyed boating on the Long Island Sound with his family and was an avid fisherman.
William "Don" is survived by his children, Joanne Van Horn (Shocky), Don Bennettson (Joan), Karen Bennettson, Christine Wright (Thomas), grandchildren; Keith, Billy, Christian, Kimberly, Brett, Eric, great-grandchildren; Madison, Kyle and Riley. He is also survived by his brother Raymond and sister Peggy Gazel.
Mass will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (502 North 5th Avenue LaGrange, KY 40031) with burial to follow at 2:30 pm at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central (2501 North Dixie Blvd Radcliff, KY 40160).
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christmas Fund in care of the Activities Department at Richwood Nursing Home (1012 Richwood Way LaGrange, Kentucky 40031) in the name of Don Bennettson.
