William Ben Proctor Sr., 91, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 in Louisville, Kentucky.
William was born on June 2, 1924 in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to Herman and Autra (Morton) Proctor. He was a truck driver for many years for C.T. Hertzsch, and was a member at New Progressive Baptist Church, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. William was a Army veteran who served in WWII and The Korean War and received bronze medals. He sang with the Roman Eagles at one time and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Autra (Morton) Proctor. William is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Annetta B.(Smith) Proctor, loving children; William B. Proctor Jr. (Mary), Sandra K. Johnson, Michael D. Proctor Sr. (Pamela) ,Timothy W. Proctor (Lisa), Jacqueline D. Jones (Tom), 17 grandchildren that includes Michael D. Proctor, Jr., whom they raised, and 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special thanks to his niece and caregiver, Autra Baker.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 2-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home ( 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His service will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11AM with visitation before from 9-11am at New Progressive Baptist Church (4712 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, Indiana 47130 with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
