William A. Philpott

William A. Philpott, 89, of Galena, Indiana passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of Galena United Methodist Church. Bill was a driver for Yellow Cab for over 36 years. He enjoyed working on old cars and had a life-long love of horse racing.
He was born on March 20, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William S. and Margaret (Estes) Philpott. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Philpott; and brothers, Robert Philpott, Paul and Charles Gay. Bill is survived by his son, David Hall (Rebekah); and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 26, 2015 from 2 to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with burial and military honors to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the New Albany/Floyd County Animal Shelter (215 W. Market Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
