Willard "Bill" Barnes

Willard "Bill" Barnes, age 80, passed away on July 20, 2026, after a short illness at Baptist Health Care, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in La Grange, Kentucky, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mary Barnes; and his brothers, Paul Barnes and Huey Barnes.

Bill worked as an HVAC electrician for LG&E for more than 30 years, serving at various locations throughout his career. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golf, boating, sports, and traveling until his stroke in 2006, after which his health continued to decline over the years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Barnes; his daughters, Carrie (Chad) Karlen and Crissy (Kip) Young; and his cherished grandchildren, Logan Young, Luke Young, and Chase Karlen.

He is also survived by his sisters, Elaine Gardner and Cindy (Craig) Retzlaff; his sister-in-law, Mary Barnes; his sisters-in-law, Kim (Timmy) Atkins and Lisa (L.D.) Middleton; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A private family burial service will be held at a later date.
