Willa Jane (Boyd) Gatling, 76, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. Willa was a member of the Greater Mt. Zion Apostolic Church where she faithfully attended Bible classes and Sunday worship. She loved cooking and baking; enjoyed caring for her late husband, Joseph Gatling, in his later years; and enjoyed watching The Word Network on television.
She was born on March 26, 1944, in Crofton, Kentucky, to the late Claude, Sr., and Thelma (Robinson) Boyd. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Gatling; siblings, Charles Boyd, Clemetine Ingram, Virgil Boyd, Helen Grundy, Floyd Boyd, Aaron Boyd, Melvin Boyd, and Julia Johnson; and infant brother, Hosea Boyd.
Willa is survived by her loving children, Derrek (Karen Windom-Gatling) Gatling and Daryl Gatling; grandchildren, Cristian Gatling and Aasia Gatling; siblings, Herbert F. (Patricia) Boyd, Johnny (Lynetta) Boyd, Claude (Torrie) Boyd, Jr., Rachel (Michael) Robinson, and Mary Lou Rhinehart; sisters-in-law, Carol Boyd, Alma Boyd, and Ruby Lindsey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and fellow church members and friends.
Visitation and Services will be kept private. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband in the Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
The family requests that contributions in Willa's memory be made to the Greater Mt. Zion Apostolic Church (3845 Wayne Street, New Albany, IN 47150).
