Wesley Griffin Sr.

Wesley Raymond "Ray" Griffin, Sr., 87, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017, at his home. He was born on January 24, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Raymond and Elsie (Gray) Griffin. Ray was a member at Indian Creek Baptist Church in Georgetown, Indiana, and was very active in church, along with serving as a deacon for 50 years, and retired from Smith's Furniture after 32 years of faithful service. He was a fun-loving person, had a great sense of humor, and was loved by all who knew him. Ray enjoyed coin collecting, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elsie (Gray) Griffin. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Bonnie (Hodges) Griffin; his children, Wes Griffin, Jr. (Donna), Bev Walters (Jim), and Ron Griffin (Laurie); 4 grandchildren, Jon Baxter, Paul Baxter (Danielle), Erin Evans (Eric), and Jacob Griffin; and 1 great-grandchild, Hunter Baxter.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). His service will be March 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at Abundant Life Memorial Gardens in New Albany, Indiana.
