Wayne Joseph Rice

Wayne Joseph Rice, 70, of Palmyra, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021. Wayne attended the Palmyra United Methodist Church and was an avid IU sports fan, loved working on cars, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He was known for his sense of humor and for being a skilled carpenter and handyman.

He was born on September 13, 1950, in New Salisbury, Indiana, to the late Lewis and Doris (Chandler) Rice. Along with his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Timothy Rice; and sister, Beverly Grider.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Mary Rice; children, William (Emily) Rice, Tammy Rice, and Mary (James) Huffman; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Rice, Lewis Rice, Charles Rice, and Margaret Diaz; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with burial to follow at the Edwardsville-Tunnel Hill Cemetery in Edwardsville, Indiana.

The family requests that contributions in Wayne's memory be made to the Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
