Wayne Maxwell Peak, 78, a loving, gentle, and true family man, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016. He graduated from Bagdad High School and went on to study Criminal Justice at Georgetown College and the University of Louisville. He began his career as a private investigator for Pinkerton Security and was a retired investigator for ICI and went on to also retire from security at Pillsbury in New Albany. Wayne was an avid UK fan and a member of New Beginnings Community Church in New Albany. He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, gardening, working on cars, music and painting.
He was born on June 30, 1937 in Grafenburg, Kentucky to the late Lois and Katherine (Black) Peak. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Peak Harper; and his furry companion, Reevie.
Wayne is survived by his soulmate of 32 years, Margaret "Maggie" (Chism) Sarles Peak; children, Max Peak (Lisa), Gilbert Peak (Dana), Laurel Kelley, Scott Sarles (Debbie); nephew, Eric Chism (Sarah); niece, Amanda Elliott; sister, Carole Smith (Jesse); 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 9 other nieces and nephews that he adored.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 8 PM Thursday, May 12, 2016 and after 11 AM Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will take place at 1:30 PM Friday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Wolfe Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
