Wanda M. (Husk) Nelson, 89, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2016. She retired from the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville and was the owner of Wanda's Corner at the Shepherdsville Awesome Flea Market. Wanda was a past member of the Scottish Terrier Club of Greater Louisville, the Floyd County Homemakers, and Friendship Club, and was an active volunteer of the Centenary UMC Food Bank.
She was born on February 22, 1927, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late William Husk and Willie Mae (Stadler) Creamer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nelson; daughter, Donna Burden; and brother, Robert Husk.
Wanda is survived by her children, Janet Waldridge (Charles Cox), Alan Nelson (Donna), and Karen Powell (John); sister, Darlene Krantz; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
