Wanda Mae (Smith) Harney, 82, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018. She was a member of the Parkway Southern Baptist Church and a retired teacher of the Floyd County Head Start Program. Wanda was well known and loved by many. She was a proud woman of God, and her faith and family came before anything else.
She was born on January 12, 1936, in Morgantown, Kentucky, to the late Hershel and Myrtress (Moore) Smith. Along with her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie and Danny Smith.
Wanda is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Donnal "Bud" Harney; children, Jimmy Martin, Linda Martin, Tommy Martin (Sarah Vance), Ronnie Martin (Kathy Benham), and Michelle Henderson (David); 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and continues on Monday, March 5, 2018, after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
