Walter William Schmidt, Jr., 68, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Madison Chemical Company after 41 years of service. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed working in the shop with his grandsons.
He was born on July 5, 1948, in Madison to the late Walter, Sr., and Gladys (Gourley) Schmidt. Bill was also preceded in death by his siblings, Annette, George, Sue, and Bob Schmidt; and grandson, Alex Schmidt.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia (Hearne) Schmidt; children, Rick Schmidt (Velvet), Debbie Jones (Mark), and Lisa Carver; siblings, David Schmidt (Carol), Patty King (Harold), and Becky Woods (Virgil); and grandchildren, Shelby Jones, Andrew Jones, and Lauren Schmidt.
Cremation was chosen following Bill's wishes. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105) or to the charity of donor's choice.
