Walter Franklin Ledbetter, Jr., 67, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He was a 1968 graduate of New Albany High School and served his country in the National Guard. Walt recently retired from Passport Health and was a softball coach in our community for over 20 years, coaching at Clarksville Little League, as well as Clarksville and Providence High Schools. He was an avid IU basketball fan. Walt was the best husband, father, and grandfather a family could ask for. He loved being a grandfather and was active in all of his grandkids' activities.
He was born on June 23, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Walter, Sr., and Geraldine (Hill) Ledbetter. Walt is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gloria (Crotchett) Ledbetter; daughters, Renea Nein (Tim), Pam Ottersbach (Rob), Amanda Weber (Matt), and Heather White (Bill); siblings, Gloria Gelbach (John), Roger Ledbetter (Pam), and Alan Ledbetter (Jennifer); grandchildren, Samuel, Ian, Peyton, Jake, Aly, Lillie, Frankie, Hailee, and Gavin; brother-in-law, Jerry Crotchett; and his beloved dog, Maggie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and fans from the athletic programs of Henryville and Clarksville High Schools.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Monday after 11:00 a.m. His Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
