Walter Lee King, Sr., 87, was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on March 17, 1934, to the late Jannie Hicks and George King.
Walter was a 1953 graduate of Central High School. He retired from Henry Vogt Machine Company in 1993 after 29 years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jannie Hicks and George King, his wife, Hattie M. King, and sisters, Henrietta Rodgers, Dorothy Turner, and Louise Ewing.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela L. King (John Webb, Jr.), son, Walter L. King, Jr., two grandchildren, Rakai M. Braxton (Damon) and Tyenesha R. King, three great-grandchildren Amare M. Curry, Isaiah C. Braxton, and Roderick Q. Brown, III, a special niece, Rita Rodgers-Johnson who helped care for him, a host of nieces and nephews who affectionately called him "Uncle Junie" as well as a host of friends that will cherish his loving memory forever.
On Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 7:02 pm, he received his wings and passed from this earth to eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by all and forgotten by none.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home- Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Highway). His Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel.
