Walter Woody Key, Jr., age 72 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017. He was a Navy Veteran and retired in 1986 from Smith Transfer Company where he served more than 20 years. He was a former Boy Scout Leader, loved fishing and his passion was pool, where he played on a league. He was an avid UofK fan. Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Woody Key, Sr. and Ada Moyers Key; his brother, Herbert "Herbie" Key, and his sister, Charlene Lycans.
Woody is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Nancy; daughters, Sara Key and Amy Lashley (Mike); step-sons, Randall Propheter and Robert Propheter (Lisa); grandsons, Jacob Lashley, Anthony Lashley, David Livers and Taylor Propheter; granddaughters, Ashlyn Propheter, Nevaeh Burton and Aliya Propheter; brothers, Dennis Key and John Key (Bachue); sisters, Gail Bickel (Steve) and Wendy Pittman (David); and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of Woody's life will be at noon on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive in Middletown. Visitation will be held from 11am-12pm, and after the service from 1pm until 6pm. Burial will be private at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, KY.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
