Walter Ledman Jewell, Jr., age 93 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018. Born in Louisville, KY, he was the son of the late Florence and W. Ledman Jewell, Sr. He was a graduate of Fern Creek High School and the University of Kentucky. During WWII, he served in the Army's 84th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. Walter was an employee of General Electric, a farmer and former owner of Water Specialty Services, Inc. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 19 years, Amanda June Toadvine Jewell; his second wife of 46 years, Geraldine King Jewell; a grandson, Nicholas Ledman Jewell; and his step-daughter, Sharon Robertson.
Walter is survived by his loving children, W. Ledman "Leddy" Jewell, III (Dianne), Leslie Jewell (Carrie), Lynne Jewell and Lori Jones (Chris); 8 grandchildren, Beverly Cross, Joe Horsman (Amy), Brett Jewell (Page), John Hord, Amanda Adkison (Dustin), Amanda Milan (Mike), Aretta Jewell and Paul Jones; 12 great-grandchildren, Jason Patterson (Katie), Gabi Kemp, Savannah, Josie and Jake Horsman, Natalie and Lincoln Jewell, Liam, Lucas and George Adkison, and Milo and Johnny Milan; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Charlie, Addy and Ellie; 2 brothers, Miller Jewell (Barbara) and Allen Jewell (Joan); numerous nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Bethany Anderson; step-children, Scarlet Lee, Byron (Irma), Kevin (Sandy) and Linda Warren (Mike); and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243 (in Middletown). A celebration of Walter's life will be 11am Thursday, December 27th at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
