Von Alva Greene

Von Alva Greene, 90, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022. Von was a hard worker his entire life. His career in the grocery business started at the early age of 14 years old when he worked for JayC Food Store in Corydon. Von was a member of the Jaycees Club in Corydon for many years. He later went on to work for A&P for over 35 years until their closing. Von later retired from Wetterau Foods in Greenville, Kentucky.

He was born on November 7, 1931, in Corydon, Indiana, to the late Alva Greene and Audrey (Miller) Greene. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Michael Greene.

Von is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Hilda Greene; sons, Steven Greene, Patrick (Tina) Greene, and Samuel (Rose Lynn) Greene; grandchildren, Eric (Tiffany) Greene, Brage Greene, Stephanie (Alex) Olson, Danny (Stephanie) Greene, Vashti (Bill) Allen, Shaun (Jesse) Greene, Whitney (Jordan) Ayers, Zach (Danielle) Gullion, Bradley (Lissette) Greene, and Kevin Greene; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
