Virginia L. Brown

February 16, 1952 — June 15, 2021

Ms. Virginia L. " Jenny" Turner Brown, of Louisville, KY, passed from this life and received her wings on June 15, 2021, at Norton's Hospital in Louisville, KY, 5:43am at the age of 69 years old. After 14 years she had a reoccurrence of cancer and succumbed to the illness.

Jenny is the daughter, of a union of 14 siblings, to the late Owen Milburn Turner and Mary Barbara Calhoun-Turner. She was born on February 16, 1952, in Taylor County, KY, at home on Hwy 210. Jenny also had an additional 2 siblings.

Jenny professed her faith in Christ at an early age of Baptist faith at her family church Pleasant Union Baptist Church. She attended Durham High School in Campbellsville, KY. She was a caregiver and nurse for 38 years at Methodist Evangelical in Louisville, KY. Jenny loved to read her bible, church homegoing's, events and gatherings with family and friends. She liked watching TV (movies and soap opera's; her favorites being Bold and the Beautiful and Young and the Restless), talking, singing, eating, grilling out and being outside. She was a hard worker, who touched many lives. Jenny never met a stranger and she was a caring, loving fiance, sister, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael De'Andre "Pee Wee" Turner; grandparents, Oscar "Ock" Calhoun and Cora Thorton-Calhoun and Matt and Sally Turner; sisters, Bernice Richardson, Vernetta Hendrickson, Catherine Simpson, Rose Gaddie, Betty Jean Graves and Debra Turner; brothers, Owen William Turner, Rev. Oscar Turner and Paul Thomas Turner and step-mother, Annie Henderson Turner.

Jenny leaves to cherish her memory, her fiancé and best friend of over 30 years, Donald Banks and his grandmother, Katherine McAtee; sisters, Carrie Frances "Kay" Grady of Campbellsville, KY, Patricia Johnson and Wanda (Allen) Mitchell-Cooper, both of Louisville, KY; brothers, Rev Ronnie (Judy) Turner of Campbellsville, Thomas Turner of Louisville, KY and Roderick (Craig) Turner of Raleigh NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY from 11am-1pm with a celebration of Virginia's life beginning at 1pm.

Jenny will be laid to rest at Green Meadows, 3800 Shanks Lane, Louisville, KY.
