Virginia Ruth (Rouzer) Basil, 84, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday morning, September 22, 2018. She was an active volunteer at the VFW Post 1693 Hobart Beach and long-time resident at Westminster Village. Virginia enjoyed many things, which included dancing, shopping, sewing, and also playing bingo.
She was born on September 10, 1934, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Ollie, Sr., and Beulah Rouzer. Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Basil; siblings, Helen Carpenter and Ollie Rouzer, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Michelle Basil.
Virginia is survived by her children, Jeane Buehler (David) and Don Basil (Michelle); grandchildren, Brittany Basil, Stacy Young (Russell), and Tommy Gavin (Julie); and great-grandchildren, Nate and RJ Gavin, Ally and Lauryn Young, and Shyann Basil.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 9:00 a.m. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the chapel at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
