Victoria “Vicki” (Wells) Bennett
Our beloved Mom and Nana, Vicki (87), went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 1, 2026 after a brief illness and a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s for more than 10 years. She has wanted to be reunited with the love of her life, her husband Gene (Bennett), since his passing 17 months ago.
Vicki was born December 2, 1938, in Louisville, KY to Anna and Victor Wells. She grew up in the West End of Louisville and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1956. She met Gene on a blind double-date in 1959 after he returned from his service in the Navy. They married August 20, 1960 and began their family in 1963. She worked at Middleton & Ruetlinger as a legal secretary for 20 years, but her life’s work was being a Mom. Being a wife, mother, and Nana was what she loved most in life!
She was an avid gardener and baker. She made THE best Red Velvet cake! She was a music and dancing enthusiast! Her favorite band was the Doobie Brothers. She made sure that was Gina’s first concert and bought two tickets for them to attend when Gina was 13. She also loved reading and read a book a month. She was a huge sports fan! Her favorite activity was watching Greg and Andy play sports. A big cheerleader at heart, she loved sharing her sons’ love of sports with them! She also loved reading her Bible and doing Bible studies every week with her beloved friends. She was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. Gene and Vicki were members of Southeast Christian Church for over 40 years.
Vicki’s love for her family is evident by those survived by her. Left to cherish her memory are her three children and their spouses: Greg and Haylie Bennett, Gina and Tom Enyeart, and Andy and Colleen Bennett; ten grandchildren: Chelsea (Bryan) Slade, Alye (Jeremy) Duncan, Brett (Haley) Bennett, Cassidy (Steven) Reese, Katy (Ben) Reynolds, Jack-Harold Enyeart, Jake (Sloan) Bennett, George Bennett, Alex Hickman, Abby Hickman; and seven great-grandchildren: Jeremy & Ethan Duncan, Cameron & Hattie Slade, Lewis & Ruthie Reese, and Addison Bennett.
She is welcomed to heaven by her adoring husband, Gene Bennett, her parents, and her two brothers, Joe and Billy Wells.
Even in end-stage Alzheimer’s, her personality was still very much present, especially in her smile, and beautiful sassy spirit.
Please join us on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 for visitation from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm at Duncan Memorial Chapel (5600 Old Floydsburg Road Crestwood, KY 40014) with private burial to follow at Floydsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund or Southeast Christian Church.
