Victor R. Carpenter, 93, passed away on December 12, 2014. He was born in Titusville, PA on April 21, 1921 to the late Glen and Nettie Carpenter, the fifth of seven children.
He was a WW2 Veteran serving five years in the Army Air Corps at Langley Field, VA, Gander Air Base in Newfoundland, Dow Field, Bangor, ME, LaGuardia Airport, NY City and in the 90th Fighter Squadron in the China Burma India Command. Two years in the Burmese jungles. After discharge he worked for 29 years for GE Company in Erie, PA and Appliance Park in Louisville as a Production Manager and Material Control Specialist.
After retirement, from the GE Company, he owned and operated a Baskin Robins Ice Cream Store. He was also a Real Estate Agent and school bus driver for several years.
He was married for 62 years to Elaine (Myers) who preceded him in death in 2007. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Ron) Geary, and his son Gregory (Debi) Carpenter, two grandchildren, Wendy Geary and Mark (Allison) Geary and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Southeast Christian Church since 1974 where he was a Deacon and Elder for several years. He also served in the Church Accounting Department for many years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 1:00pm until 7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive)
Funeral ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Southeast Christian Church (904 Blankenbaker Parkway) at 12:00 noon with visitation at the church after 10:00am.
