Vernon Weird Jr., 88, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, passed away on January 1, 2020. He retired from GE and was a member of Sunny Side Baptist Church.

Vernon was born on December 17, 1931, Shepherdsville, Kentucky to the late Vernon and Hazel (Snawder) Weird.

In addition to his parents, Vernon is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Grissett.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Starla (Charles) Hauck, Twila Holbrook, Sonsiea Petrie, Rebecca Sue Pyron, Katherine Shepherd, Wayne Weird, Thomas Weird, Roxanne Jones; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Weird and Charlotte Catron.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (10304 Dixie Highway). His Funeral Ceremony will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
