Vernon Thomas Jacques, 96, of New Albany, Indiana was called home on Sunday, March 22, 2015. He was born on June 17,1918 in New Albany, Indiana to Jess and Maude (Thomas) Jacques. He was owner and operator of Floyd County Machine for many years and retired in the year, 2000. Vernon was a member of Northside Christian Church, served in the U.S. Army and Air Force, was awarded a purple heart, was a member of the Depauw Masonic Lodge 338, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Kosair Shriners, and a representative of the Boy Scouts of America, international level. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eileen (Ashby) Jacques, sister,Laura "Elizabeth" Jacques. He is survived by his children, Robert Jacques (Susan) of Marquette, Michigan and Doug Jacques of New Albany, Indiana; sisters,Mildred Plue and Ruth Richey; grandchildren, Lauren and Adam Jacques of Marquette, Michigan; and great-grandson, Caleb Jacques of Marquette, Michigan.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 2-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home,(3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150). There will be a Masonic service held on Wednesday at 7 PM . His service will be on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 1 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in New albany.
In lieu of flowers, memorial expressions can be made to the Floyd County Animal Shelter(215 West Market Street, New Albany,IN 47150).
