Vera S. Puckett

Vera Sue Puckett, age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born on July 19, 1944, in Louisville to Daniel and Enogene (Barnes) Samuels, Vera's life was a testament to strength, love, and unwavering devotion.

Vera’s heart belonged to her children, for whom she would do anything. She was a woman of many passions—baseball, reading tarot and palm cards, and a bright fan of science fiction movies. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. A truly strong woman, Vera faced life’s hardships with a radiant smile and an enduring love for the outdoors and animals that enriched her spirit.

Throughout her journey, she remained the steadfast cornerstone of her family, offering care and love in abundance. Vera embraced life fully, leaving behind beautiful memories that will be treasured by all who were fortunate to know her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Edward and Enogene Samuels, and siblings Ruth Williams, Rose Long, and Terry Moran.

Vera is lovingly remembered by her children Donald (Nancy) Puckett, Jr., Vera Ann Prater, Conya Payne, Denver (Julie) Puckett, and Earnest O. Puckett; her grandchildren Lonnie, Julia, Donald III, Savannah, Robert, Dayla, Shane, Elona, Joe, Owen, Cameron, Jessie, and Lilly; her brother Dave Samuels; nieces Teresa and Lisa; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Her family invites all who knew Vera to share a cherished memory or leave a message of condolence, celebrating a life deeply lived and fondly remembered. Vera Sue Puckett’s warmth, resilience, and love will remain in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.
